Ogden UU Welcoming Committee Congregation

Sorry, out counter is out of order, but we are working to correct the problem.
The members of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Ogden actively reach out to people who are gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgendered. It is part of our vision to be a diverse church community in Ogden that respects the differences between people and affirms every person as an individual. What this means in practical terms is that our church has sponsored workshops and presented Sunday services educating people about GLBT issues as well as providing an atmosphere where everyone can be included in all aspects of our church community. Currently our congregation can boast that GLBT persons serve on our board, regularly participate in our church services, and teach in our religious education programs. Our Welcoming Congregation Committee is also active in supporting GLBT events in our area.

What we believe:

Unitarian Universalists believe that personal experience, conscience, and reason should be the final authorities in religion. We uphold the free search for truth, and do not subscribe to any particular creed. We affirm the worth of all women and men, and believe that people should be encouraged to think for themselves. We know people differ in their opinions and lifestyles, and we believe these differences generally should be honored.

Issues

The Gay and Lesbian Community Center of Utah is working with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Serices to understand the healthcare situation for people with a different sexual orientation or gender identity who live in Utah. There is a survey on The Center's web site and can be filled out online. This is the first statewide GLBT healthcare survey for Utah and is fully funded by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. It takes about 15 to 20 minutes to complete and the answers are totally confidential. Your name will never be connected to your responses. This information will help us and our partners ensure that healthcare in Utah meets everyone's needs.
